Italia Shirtdress by Style Arc

I have a LOT to catch up on! I haven't been blogging, but I HAVE been making. Soon - I promise! - I'll catch up on unblogged makes. For now.... let's just move on to this post about making the Italia Shirtdress by StyleArc. First - here's the finished garment, and my dogs. They were having a grand time during this photo shoot. Pattern: Style Arc Italia Fabric: Rag and Bone printed Chambray from Mood Buttons and interfacing from Fashion Sewing Supply (which I mention because their interfacing is so good, and also because when they have pearl shell buttons, you should stock up.) What I like about this: - Cute, semi-fitted shirtdress - Mostly fit out of the envelope (yes I was bad and didn't muslin this, but as it was looser fitting...) What I would change for next time: - Increase the length another couple of inches. I normally add 2 inches to every dress for my tall frame, but this is still a little short. Life is a wild ride

In the midst of sewing for myself and sewing a lot for other people, there's been a global pandemic, I lost my father, learned I not only carry a genetic disease but have some small signs of it, had abdominal surgery and have gone through 7 rounds of IVF. Whew, it's been a lot. And I know I'm not alone. It's been a wild ride for everyone with emotional highs and lows and everything in between. Sewing Ok, starting with the easy subject! I started teaching "sewing with knits" classes as part of a local adult education program ( AccessCVU ). This was so fun and challenging and I've learned SO much from my students (and not like "I've learned how to be a better teacher", no, I mean I've learned real skills, tools, made connections and found new resources thanks to my students!)
